Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

This journal focuses on all aspects of Carabidae research. We welcome a range of articles, including peer reviewed scientific studies, through to collection reports and informal communications. We want to involve professional scientists and amateur entomologists who we realise have a significant role to play in the future of academic research.

 

Section Policies

Articles

This section is for peer-reviewed academic articles with a significant scientific basis. We welcome articles on any aspect of carabidology, but they must represent new work and contain a significant amount of scientific content. However submitters need not be active academics.

Non-scientific articles not requiring peer-review. These can focus on any aspect of carabidology including maintaining a collection, tips and tricks for collecting, variation in a species across its range. Basically anything you want

Collection Report

Details of your latest collection trip, including where you went and what you found. We are interested in reports from everywhere ranging from the steamy tropical jungles to damp and dreary Europe.

Review

We welcome reviews of any book, old or new, equipment or website. This section is not peer-reviewed. However obviously biased articles will not be accepted. Reviews can be of any medium with a carabid theme, for example field guides, online keys, or reference books.

Peer Review Process

Any article with significant scientific information must pass through the peer-review process. Informal communications, collection reports or similar need not be reviewed. All peer reviewed articles will be blind reviewed, that is the reviewers will not know the author of the paper.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
